She brings her love of poetry to schools throughout Central New York, but enjoys her visits to Oswego.Poet Rachel Guido deVries has been a “guest” of the Oswego City School District for nearly 20 years. However, when this “guest” leaves she leaves behind a gift for all students she came into contact with…a love of poetry.

FLS Honors Drivers, Crossing Guards

The Frederick Leighton Elementary School thanked the bus drivers and crossing guards for their dedication. Season High Score For Marching Bucs

Emily King and Gina Bartholomew are featured musicians in a recent marching band competition.The Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers achieved a season-high score last Saturday night at the New York State Field Band Conference show in Auburn and look forward to one more show before traveling to the Buckeye Invitational.

Rotarians Hear From Local Author

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Carol Vescio, left, is pictured with Margaret Streitenberger and Jim Arnold.  Margaret, the author of the recently published book "What Happened When the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon",  illustrated by artist Jim Arnold, spoke about her experience as a pet-sitter which brought her to the animal stories discussed in her book.  The book is available at River's End Book Store in Oswego where there was a book signing in the Spring.  Another book is in the works for  Spring 2012, entitled "Did the Cow Really Jump Over the Moon?"  You can learn more about the author and artist at www.tailsandtales.com.
