ARC of Oswego County and Oswego Industries, Inc. Kick Off Wellness Program

On July 5, Arc of Oswego County/ Oswego Industries, Inc. R.N. Heather Williams kicked off a wellness program for the sister nonprofits' participants.  Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes based on healthy lifestyle choices—including eating healthy foods and exercising.  ARC of Oswego County and Oswego Industries, Inc. are sister nonprofits providing services for individuals with disabilities in Oswego County.  Together, the two create a comprehensive service system, so that a person can receive assistance throughout their lifetime – from therapies in infancy and early childhood to Medicaid Service Coordination for school-aged children, recreational and vocational programs for adults to day habilitation services for senior citizens.  ARC of Oswego County has been in operation since 1955, and Oswego Industries since 1968. Pictured engaging in an aerobic exercise program during the wellness day kickoff in OI's "Fun Rock Café" are Michelle Wallace, supervisor Kathy Duby, Angela Delosh, Toby Harris and Peggy Acquaviva; leading the exercise session is physical therapist Jo Weaver.Participants will have the opportunity to win prizes based on healthy lifestyle choices—including eating healthy foods and exercising.

ForeSIGHT Golf Tournament To Raise Funds For Aurora Of CNY

The 15th annual ForeSIGHT Golf Classic will be held Sept. 12 at Foxfire at Village Green in Baldwinsville. Aurora of CNY is the only non-profit that works exclusively with people in Central New York who are deaf, blind, visually impaired or hard of hearing.

Open House Saturday at Enchantment Acres

Ritchie Joins Gov. Cuomo for Tax Cap Signing Ceremony

Senator Patty Ritchie joins other state lawmakers Wednesday to watch Gov. Andrew Cuomo signs into law historic Tax Cap legislation that reins in runaway property taxes. The bill signing took place at the suburban Syracuse home of taxpayers Christopher and Tina Maroney. The Governor later presented Sen. Ritchie with the pen that he used to sign the new law.Senator Patty Ritchie joined Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo Wednesday at a bill signing ceremony to mark the enactment of New York’s new “Property Tax Cap,” an historic measure that will protect homeowners and businesses from runaway tax hikes, help strengthen the state’s economy and create jobs.

Head Start Pre-K Accepting Applications

Students at OCO Head Start’s Pinewoods Center brushing their teeth after breakfast.   Children in Head Start Pre-K are served meals, participate in toothbrushing, and go outside daily (weather permitting) as part of the program.Oswego County Head Start Pre-K continues to accept applications for September. The program enrolls three- and four-year-old children and has locations throughout Oswego County. Head Start’s goal is promoting school readiness through hands-on learning experiences, active play, and nutritious meals and snacks.
