The event raised some much needed funds for our CYO program that provides a wide variety of recreational and educational activities for our youth.

Author and Illustrator Matt McElligott Visits Granby Elementary School

Author and illustrator Matt McElligott demonstrates the ceremonial publishing dance to students at Granby Elementary School. McElligott recently visited Granby and spoke to students about the nearly three-year journey to create Benjamin Franklinstein Lives! and said that the publishing dance came immediately after he and his co-author and best friend Larry Tuxbury found out that a publishing company was interested in their manuscript. His message to students and as illustrated in the above photo is that hard work and fun can go hand-in-hand.Author and illustrator Matt McElligott shared an important message about the benefits of hard work and determination during a recent visit to Granby Elementary School.

Key Bank “Makes A Difference” at Head Start Pre-K

) Key Bank employees Shawn Seale, Jane Griffin, Amanda Race, Jamie Higby, Arlene Krauss, and Head Start Family Advocate Michelle LaFave next to one of the center’s new flower beds.On Tuesday May 24th, five employees from Key Bank in Oswego left their offices at noon, traded their work attire for jeans and a company shirt, and headed to Oswego County Head Start Pre-K. These volunteers spent their afternoon mulching, gardening, and spreading stone at the program’s Oswego Center.

NRG Energy will once again sponsor the Lakeview Stage in Breitbeck Park during Harborfest, July 28-31.  Pictured is Harborfest Executive Director Tom Van Schaack and NRG Energy Regional Administrative Assistant Donna Moonan.Barenaked Ladies will be the featured headliner on Friday, July 29 with local favorite Frostbit Blue opening for the popular Canadian alternative rockers. Frostbit Blue will take the stage beginning at 7:30 PM, followed by Barenaked Ladies at 9:30 PM.

Catholic Charities Celebrates CYO Expansion

Board members and staff of Catholic Charities of Oswego County welcome members of the Fulton Noontime Rotary Club and representatives from the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce for the opening of the CYO Program’s new computer / game room. In the front from left are: Matthew West of the chamber; President of the Fulton Noontime Rotary Club and Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Fulton, Dave Cramer; Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow; CYO Director, Jim Smiley; Holly Carpenter, representing Senator Patty Ritchie; Executive Director of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Beth Hilton; and chamber board member, Linda Thomas-Caster of Partners In Integrity Realty. In back from left are Rotary members, Jerry Seguin, director of operations for the Fulton City School District; Bill Lynch, superintendent of the Fulton City School District; chamber board president, Tom Greco of Fulton Savings Bank; and chamber members Sandy Farrands, Morgan Burnell and Diane Burnell of Realty USA.

Thanks to the efforts of the Fulton Noontime Rotary Club, the CYO program now has a new computer / game room where youth can use one of the several computers, enjoy board games and card games, or just spend time visiting and making new friends.
