Harborfest Sets Lakeview Stage

NRG Energy will once again sponsor the Lakeview Stage in Breitbeck Park during Harborfest, July 28-31.  Pictured is Harborfest Executive Director Tom Van Schaack and NRG Energy Regional Administrative Assistant Donna Moonan.Barenaked Ladies will be the featured headliner on Friday, July 29 with local favorite Frostbit Blue opening for the popular Canadian alternative rockers. Frostbit Blue will take the stage beginning at 7:30 PM, followed by Barenaked Ladies at 9:30 PM.

Books on Wheels

Oswego’s Bookmobile makes a stop May 31 — launch day for the bright vehicle acquired from Reynoldsville, Ohio — at SUNY Oswego, which is collaborating with the Oswego YMCA and the Oswego City School District to bring summer reading to students throughout the city in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Catholic Charities Celebrates CYO Expansion

Board members and staff of Catholic Charities of Oswego County welcome members of the Fulton Noontime Rotary Club and representatives from the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce for the opening of the CYO Program’s new computer / game room. In the front from left are: Matthew West of the chamber; President of the Fulton Noontime Rotary Club and Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Fulton, Dave Cramer; Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow; CYO Director, Jim Smiley; Holly Carpenter, representing Senator Patty Ritchie; Executive Director of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Beth Hilton; and chamber board member, Linda Thomas-Caster of Partners In Integrity Realty. In back from left are Rotary members, Jerry Seguin, director of operations for the Fulton City School District; Bill Lynch, superintendent of the Fulton City School District; chamber board president, Tom Greco of Fulton Savings Bank; and chamber members Sandy Farrands, Morgan Burnell and Diane Burnell of Realty USA.

Thanks to the efforts of the Fulton Noontime Rotary Club, the CYO program now has a new computer / game room where youth can use one of the several computers, enjoy board games and card games, or just spend time visiting and making new friends.

United Way Says Thanks For Supporting Book Project

Thanks to the tremendous support we received from the community we were able to distribute hundreds of books to children along the parade route. It was wonderful to see the expressions on their faces and the appreciation of the parents.

Lanigan Lift-Off Takes Care of Unfinished Business

At a recent Lanigan Lift-Off celebration, a little unfinished business was taken care of. A giant check for $800 was presented by the school to the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation to assist in the fight against childhood cancers on behalf of Fulton’s own, Tim Conners. The money had been raised, in part, through the sale of t-shirts featuring the Syracuse University basketball program’s slogan “unfinished business” and a Tug for Tim ribbon. The Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation strives to enrich the lives of kids in need within our Central New York community, as well as, provide support for eliminating cancer through research and advocacy. Pictured with the check was Daniel Johnson, Principal at Lanigan Elementary School; Betsey Conners, Tim Conners’ mother and Executive Director of Instruction and Assessment in the Fulton City School District; and Tom Bull, representative from Syracuse University accepting the check on behalf of Jim and Juli Boeheim.A giant check for $800 was presented by the school to the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation to assist in the fight against childhood cancers on behalf of Fulton’s own, Tim Conners.
