Fulton Rotarians Meet New Camp Hollis Director

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian David Nethercott, right, introduced Brandon Morey who is the new Director at Camp Hollis replacing Jim Farfaglia who retired after 21 years.  Morey was named coordinator of recreation and development for the county and part of the job is running Camp Hollis in the summer.   With a background in youth activities and  B.S. in recreation and leisure studies, Morey is not planning to make too many changes right away.  He said  "My focus is going to be learning the ins and outs of the camp this year and what I think is important: reconnecting kids with nature".   The Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7:00 a.m. at Fulton's Riverside Inn.Morey was named coordinator of recreation and development for the county and part of the job is running Camp Hollis in the summer.

Oswego Health Among Fulton Bike Rodeo Sponsors

The Fulton Bike Rodeo will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4th in the parking lot of the Fulton Community Center. Among those sponsoring the event, seated from left, Billie Crandall-Brady, Oswego County Traffic Safety Coordinator; Karrie Damm, of the Child Advocacy Center; and Pauline Hill, Dunkin Donuts manager Fulton west. Standing are Diane Oldenburg, Oswego County public health educator; Jessy Arnold, Dunkin Donuts Fulton plaza manager; Oswego County Sheriff Sgt. Jeff Dunsmoor; Jim Shore, emergency medical technician from Menter’s Ambulance Services; Fulton Police Lt. Jason Delano, event coordinator; and Karen Arnold, Dunkin Donuts area manager. Missing from the photo was Margaret Beers, of Oswego Health, who will coordinate the helmet fitting.Area youngsters of all ages can take part in free bicycle obstacle courses, and get properly fitted for a bike helmet during the Fulton bicycle rodeo to be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4th in the parking lot of the Fulton Community Center.

Mothers and Sons Share Quality Time at Granby Elementary School

Angie Sciacca and her son Dante prepare to play “Don’t Break the Ice” while attending the Mother’s Day Social at Granby Elementary School. This year, around 140 moms and sons attended the special event that included ice cream sundaes, board games and raffles. C. Perkins Photography also generously donated their time and equipment to take pictures of each family group, giving them a 4”x6” picture to remember the special day. While the focus of this year’s event sponsored by the Granby Parent Teacher Group was on mothers and sons, next year will be all about mothers and daughters.This year, around 140 moms and sons attended the special event that included ice cream sundaes, board games and raffles.

Students Miss a Meal for Charity

SUNY Oswego student Elaine Wu, center, Student Association senator-at-large, and Craig Traub, left, director of dining services, present a check for $2,948 to Eric Bresee, director of youth and family services for Oswego County Opportunities. The check represents half of the money Oswego students raised by foregoing a dining hall meal one day spring semester. Another check for $2,948 went to the American Red Cross for its Japan Relief Fund. SUNY Students Hold Benefit Concert for Camp Hollis

Jessica Leigh Ryan organized a concert at SUNY Oswego to raise funds for Camp Hollis.One of the more unusual fundraisers was a benefit concert on the SUNY Oswego campus, hosted by the SUNY Oswego Lifestyles Center. The “Instill Hope” event was organized by Jessica Leigh Ryan, a graduate assistant who wanted to create “an opportunity to get students on campus connected to the community.”
