Barclay: Education May Help Prevent Suicide

Oswego Lions Award Scholarship

The Lions Club of Oswego recently awarded its annual scholarship to Haley Annal, who will be attending Nazareth College this fall.  The scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Oswego High School, and takes into consideration the applicant's record of community/school service, extracurricular activities, financial need, GPA/class rank, as well as a short written essay.  The recipient must plan on attending college in New York State.  It is a $500 scholarship, renewable for up to 4 years. The scholarship is awarded in memory of Harold ("H") and Mary Dowd. Fulton Rotarians Learn About Cancer Center Expansion

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, President Ellen Nowyj introduced Dan Grannis.  Dan, the spokesperson and representative for the Upstate Cancer Center,  told about the expansion of the existing center.  This will be a 74.5 million dollar project,  five stories high, that will serve a 17 county region, approximately 1.8 million people.  Dr. Leslie Coleman will be the medical Director for this facility - the only local facility offering pediatric care and research education for patient care.  The Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7 AM at Fulton's Riverside Inn.This will be a 74.5 million dollar project, five stories high, that will serve a 17 county region, approximately 1.8 million people.

Help OCO Send A Kid To Camp

OCO is currently selling tickets for a chance to win a $100 gas card. Three winners will receive a $100 gas card for the Oswego County gas station of their choice. Pictured are OCO Youth & Family Program managers Tina Sherman (left) and Christina Piscitelli.

Members of OCO Youth & Family Services are currently selling tickets to help raise enough money to send up to 60 youth to Camp Hollis to enjoy an overnight camping experience. Tickets are available now through June 23 at the OCO Youth & Family Services office in Midtown Plaza.

Take A Walk For Health Benefits

What exercise is free, takes a minimal amount of equipment, can be done almost anywhere and has wonderful health benefits? The answer is walking. The weather is wonderful right now and I have had patients say that it feels so good to get outdoors and walk.
