Catholic Charities Announces Fresh Food Distribution
On April 13 the Emergency Services Program of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, in cooperation with the Food Bank of Central New York, will sponsor a fresh food distribution.

Minetto and Charles E. Riley students advanced to Oswego County Battle of the Books final round as students competed recently for the right to move on. The Battle of the Books competition began at the various elementary schools with one team from each advancing to the next round at Frederick Leighton Elementary School on Wednesday.

Music teacher Scott Ciesla said, “Emily is currently the principal oboist in the OHS Wind Ensemble. She also plays tenor saxophone in the Jazz Ensemble, and has performed in the OHS Symphony Orchestra.” She started in the band program as a flute player and switched to oboe during her sophomore year.

In preparation for the upcoming 186th consecutive navigation season on the New York State Canal System and in recognition of Earth Day 2011, the New York State Canal Corporation in partnership with the Parks and Trails NY, has designated April 16 as “Canal Clean Sweep.”

Under the direction of P.E. teachers Robin and Chris Scholla every grade participated with a variety of unique and different exercises that included parachute play, chicken noodle tag, yoga, cup stacking and other events.

Several Oswego High School students participated in the Oswego County All-County Orchestra Festival held at G. Ray Bodley High School on March 18-19. The students were chosen through auditions.
The H. Lee White Marine Museum along with representatives from the Town of Oswego recently unveiled a new exhibit highlighting Medal of Honor recipient and Town of Oswego civil war hero, James H. Lee and his service aboard the U.S. Sloop of War, Kearsarge during the Civil War.
Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. is celebrating their 45th anniversary this year, and will commemorate the milestone with a birthday party on April 2 at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton, according to OCO Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier.
Marie Parsons has been named Assistant Administrator of the Ladies Home of Oswego, according to Executive Director Lee Ann Walker.
