Residents of Springside at Seneca Hill Collect Items for Time Capsule

The residents of Springside at Seneca Hill collected items for a  time capsule as part of their celebration of the facility’s tenth year  anniversary. Among the gathered items were a copy of the book, “Three  Good Men,” by local author Harold Nash, a pair of mittens that a  resident makes for charity, various photos, and the Chamber award  presented to Springside for being the small business of the year in  2008. The time capsule will be opened during festivities for the 20th  anniversary celebration to be held in 2020. From the left are residents  Rusty Koes, James Abel, Georgie Powers and Shirley Cianfarano. Oswego  Healthcare system includes the Oswego Hospital, The Manor at Seneca  Hill, a skilled nursing facility; Springside at Seneca Hill, a  retirement living community; an urgent care center in Fulton, as well as  health services centers in Mexico, Parish and Phoenix. Rotarians Hear About Pre-K Program

 Mary Ann DeMar, the Director of Literacy and Universal  Pre-Kindergarten, for the Fulton School District, recently spoke to the  Fulton Rotary Club about the Universal Pre-Kindergarten program.  The  UPK program at the present time has 144, four year old students  enrolled.  The program started in 1998 with a class size of 34.  It is  funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department.  The UPK  program follows the New York State syllabus for pre-school programs.   Each class meets for one-half day, and covers language and literacy  development, math development, and social and emotional development.   Children that start their education early generally do much better in  school.Mary Ann DeMar, the Director of Literacy and Universal Pre-Kindergarten, for the Fulton School District, recently spoke to the Fulton Rotary Club about the Universal Pre-Kindergarten program.

Rotarians Hear About Senior Living Center

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meeting, President-elect  Ellen Nowyj introduced KerryAnna Kershner, Executive Director and Lisa  Merrill, Marketing Director, from Keepsake Village at Greenpoint in  Liverpool.  Greenpoint is a senior living community which offers several  support groups for caregivers and workshops for Alzheimers and other  aging issues.  Pictured from left, is Kershner, Merrill and Nowyj.
