Local Residents Receive Oswego Scholarships and Merit Awards

The awards recognize students’ past academic achievements and potential for success. Outstanding first-year students entering Oswego are offered $17,600 Presidential Scholarships ($4,400 a year for up to four years), $5,000 Deans’ Awards ($1,250 a year for up to four years) or $2,000 Merit Awards ($500 a year for up to four years).

The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Board of Education announced at the July 29th meeting the appointment of Gerry Hudson as Superintendent of Schools for the district. His appointment is retroactive to July 1, 2009.
President Michael Hale, Sr. speaking on behalf of the APW Board of Education, praised Hudson for his more than 25 years of dedication and service to the students of the district.

Attorney General Cuomo’s Office Brings Smart Seniors Program To Pulaski

A representative from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office will be speaking to the Springbrook Seniors on consumer fraud issues as a part of Cuomo’s statewide Smart Seniors Program. Juanita Perez Williams, Assistant Attorney General from Cuomo’s Syracuse Office, will inform participants how to best avoid consumer scams that frequently target seniors, such as sweepstakes, mail orders, and identity theft.
