Hannibal Village Market IGA held its 6th annual Captain and Crew Community Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Griffin’s Greens Golf Course in Oswego followed by a Chicken BBQ dinner at Humphreys Hide-A-Way. This year, $7,000.00 was raised with all proceeds going to (3) Hannibal community not-for- profit organizations:
Visitors to the Oswego County Fair chose vanilla as their favorite ice cream flavor, edging out chocolate by two votes, and picked Kenny Rogers as their favorite vocalist, in a test run of Oswego County’s new voting system.
401 people tested the new optical scanner equipment, casting their ballot for their favorite movie, TV show, and other selections in a demonstration sponsored by the Oswego County Board of Elections.
“More than 3.5 million people boarded the train to view displays commemorating our freedom,†said Bill Nickolas, secretary of the Oswego Railroad Museum and the Oswego Valley Railroad Association, Inc. “They included the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and a replica of the Liberty Bell.†The museum’s exhibit also features “O Scale†models of the steam locomotives that pulled the American Freedom Train across the country from April 1975 to December 1976.

Former Fulton resident Dr. Craig Datz will present a pipe organ program at the First United Church, 33 South 3rd Street, Fulton on Sunday, July 19 at 3:00 PM. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Oswego Middle School year-end awards assembly placed several students in the spotlight. This year, Principal Bonnie Finnerty and Assistant Principal Roseanne Bayne presented the Oswego Middle School Academic Excellence Awards to Mike Crisafulli, Sarah Mancuso, Dylan Lavner, Alyssa Ferreira, Mackenzie Palmer and Victoria Jaskula.
On Saturday, a benefit was hosted by Lake City Lodge #127 for Tracey Mowry. The event was held to help support her battle against lung cancer.
