Free, functional and fantastic. That description sums up the Fulton City School District’s success thus far of the Community Eligibility Provision, a U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service non-pricing meal serve option for school districts in low-income areas.

In an undefeated season, that included a first place finish in every single competition they participated in, the Sandy Creek Varsity Cheer team earned the Frontier League Championship Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The Oswego County WWI Commemoration Project has worked with the county and city of Oswego, as well as local veterans’ organizations, to prepare special program at 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at Oswego Veterans’ Memorial Park (West Linear Park along the river), to recognize the 132 servicemen from Oswego County who died in the war and mark the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended it.

“Charlie Brown” continues today and Saturday, October 26-27 at 7:30 p.m. each day in the G. Ray Bodley High School auditorium.

The U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division Band from Fort Drum and the Fulton Community Band will perform a free concert in honor of Veterans’ Day, on Nov. 3, sponsored by the Fulton Music Association. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.at the G. Ray Bodley High School auditorium.

Oswego County Opportunities Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier announced that singer / songwriter Gary Carpentier will provide the entertainment for the agency’s “Giving Thanks” fundraiser. Oswego native Carpentier has spent the past 6 years performing throughout Central New York and beyond.

SUNY Oswego recently earned a State University-wide award for providing express shuttle service for incoming students from the New York City metro area to attend New Student Orientation sessions at the college this summer.

Teamwork was in the spotlight recently at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School as fifth graders collaborated to build hovercrafts.
