The annual Fulton Junior High School 7th Grade Welcome Picnic offered students a brief introduction to their new school and parents/guardians the comfort of knowing their child is going to a supportive environment.

Lessons came with laughter for Oswego City School District’s incoming kindergarten students as they recently learned about bus safety from special guest Henrietta Know-it-All. The colorful, vibrant character made the young students giggle with her over-the-top ways as they helped correct her bus safety mistakes.

The Hannibal Central School District recently welcomed pre-K and kindergarten students into Fairley Elementary School in preparation for the 2018-19 academic year.

Kate Thompson of “Scripts and Snips” will teach a basic italicized alphabet in calligraphy during the next “Learn To” session in the Community Room of the Oswego Public Library on September 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. Participants need to bring a ruler, #2 pencil and a short saying of three to six words to the session.

The adult students in the program learn personal care skills necessary to assist the elderly or ill in nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and hospitals.

Starting on September 12, Oswego Public Library will be offering storyhours on Wednesdays and Fridays. They will be at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

Assemblyman Will Barclay reminds children who participated in this year’s Assembly Summer Reading Challenge to send in their completed challenge forms soon. Students who read at least 15 minutes per day for 40 days during July and August can send completed reading challenges into Barclay’s office.
