SUNY Oswego Has Record Year For Fulbright U.S. Student Honors

Three Fulbright finalists earned their placements directly through Oswego: Christopher Byrne and Michael Kaefer were selected to teach in Germany, while Michelle Tomei was invited to teach in Romania. In addition, 2016 philosophy graduate Kimberlyn Bailey, who applied independently but received advice from Oswego’s experts during the application period, also was selected to conduct research in Germany. And 2015 graduate Katie Sullivan was invited to teach English in Malaysia.

American Foundry to be Guest Chef at Oswego County Salvation Army

The American Foundry will provide the next Salvation Army Guest Chef Dinner on April 24 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

The Foundry’s chef, Chris Coe, will serve green apple smoked Gouda macaroni and cheese with bacon, vegetable, and tossed salad. Members of the advisory board will provide desserts and beverages.

CCC Students Win Prestigious SUNY Award

Two Cayuga Community College sophomores have received the 2018 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, a prominent honor recognizing students for their work inside and outside the classroom. Receiving the award Tuesday at a ceremony in Albany, Cayuga students Glyn Davenport and Mitchell Phillips were praised for their stalwart academic performances and their extensive efforts helping other students and the surrounding communities.

Oswego County Historical Society To Host Lecture On Oswego Civil War Nurse Elmina Spencer

The Oswego County Historical Society will host the first lecture of the 2018 season on Sunday, April 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Oswego Public Library at 120 E. Second St., Oswego. Guest lecturer Joyce Cook will present a program based on her new book entitled “Elmina Spencer: Oswego’s Civil War Battlefield Nurse.”
