Children take center stage at CNY Arts Center

CNY Arts Center announces the debut of two youth productions onstage November 22 and 23 with Drama Club and Kids Onstage. Both groups have been meeting weekly since mid-September and will present to parents, family and friends in separate performances. Both presentations are pay-what-you-can performances open to the public in lieu of tickets and take place at 357 State St., in Fulton (use the Park Street entrance).

Auler to perform piano piece by young protege Nov. 24

SUNY Oswego pianist and music faculty member Robert Auler will perform at 3 p.m. Nov. 24, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom, playing a repertoire that will include a work by 2007 alumnus and classical composer George N. “Nick” Gianopoulos. Gianopoulos was an 18-year-old freshman from Baldwinsville when he took an introductory music course and his first-ever piano lessons at SUNY Oswego.

North Field is in the process of being reclaimed by nature with most of the field overgrown. There are a few monuments commemorating units who served on the island, glass shelters over the two pits that once housed the atomic bombs, and some bomb shelters.

“One thing about this play that’s so great is that it’s such heightened realism,” Ernest said. “That’s really what we’re going for … But the audience is so close, we can’t get away with anything — it has to be real.”

Two events to kick off second ‘Graphic Flash’ exhibition

A SUNY Oswego exhibition titled "Graphic Flash 2" will open Nov. 8, at Penfield Library on campus, combing the flash fiction micro-stories of students in Leigh Wilson's advanced fiction-writing course with illustrations -- such as "Crickets" by David Swift -- by students in Amy Bartell's advanced graphics class. The exhibition runs through Dec. 7.The “Graphic Flash” exhibition, following last year’s successful debut, will open with a reception from 4 to 5:20 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Penfield Library lobby. At 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12, readings will take place in the Campus Center auditorium as illustrations project on-screen. The exhibition will run through Dec. 7 in the library.
