News accounts of strange occurrences alarm all but Lucy Seward (Jessica Quindlen), rear, who finds the allure of the suave but manipulative Count Dracula irresistible, in the SUNY Oswego theatre department’s production of “Dracula,” previewing Thursday, Oct. 14, and running the weekend of Oct. 15-17
SUNY Oswego will present the award-winning Aviv Quartet of Israel, global performers at such esteemed venues as Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House, in the Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series opening concert Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Sheldon Hall ballroom.
Inez Manor Parker is once again volunteering her time and talent to directing a show for the benefit of both her Church of the Resurrection and the Oswego Players in late October.
The Oswego Players’ production, “The Hound of the Baskervilles,†will be opening on Oct. 8. “Hound†has been billed as “the greatest of all Sherlock Holmes adventures!â€
The SUNY Oswego theatre department’s Oct. 14 to 17 presentation of “Dracula” will tap into the primal fear and attraction of the unknown that has fanned the popularity of vampire plays, movies and books, new and old.
The Church of the Resurrection and the Oswego Players will again co-produce a fundraiser for both organizations in late October.
“There have been many stage adaptations of Stoker’s novel,” said Mark Cole, the play’s director and professor of theatre, “and for this production we decided to return to the original version.”
Votolato’s website calls him “a soft-spoken, very kind, very hard-working father of two, born in rural Texas and raised in the Pacific Northwest indie scene.” He formerly fronted acclaimed rock band Waxwing.
Sol y Canto, a Boston-based national touring group, will offer a lecture, demonstration and songwriting workshop during a two-day SUNY Oswego residency in conjunction with its performance, titled “Sabor y Memoria,” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre.
