The evocative tones of Robert Auler, SUNY Oswego pianist and associate professor of music, and the dramatic narration of theatre professor Mark Cole will make Paris in the 1920s come alive in a Faculty Artist Series performance on Sunday, Feb. 6.

The Salt Potatoes are four lifetime acoustic musicians. Though they concentrate on the traditional music of this country and the British Isles, they’re not above playing a good jazz tune, pop tune or Swedish waltz.

This free event for children in grades 3 thru 6 has been described in a teacher’s guide to the performance as demonstrating “… how the audience becomes an important part of the show in live theatre.”

Kamin, an internationally known comedian who trained actor Robert Downey Jr. for his Oscar-nominated role in “Chaplin,” will pay homage to the silent-screen icon in “Funny Bones” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2.

The Do Good Swingband, known for its authentic presentation of music from The Swing Era, has recently added to its song list.

Syracuse University professor Alejandro Garcia’s photos of Mexican life and his 45-year collection of Mexican folk art will combine with the 48th annual Juried Student Exhibition to enliven SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery from Jan. 28 to Feb. 26.
