Scrolls From India Exhibition Coming to SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery

"Picture Scrolls from India: Bengali Narrative Paintings" will open Friday, Jan. 29, in SUNY Oswego's Tyler Art Gallery. The scrolls come from the personal collection of Dr. Geraldine Forbes, a distinguished teaching professor of history at SUNY Oswego and a renowned scholar on India. Shown is a single panel from the multi-panel tempera-on-paper scroll "Sita Haran (Abduction of Sita)" from West Bengal. Forbes will give a gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29. The event is part of the welcoming reception, free and open to the public, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Visitors Invited to Explore Winona Forest by Ski and Dog Sled on Jan. 16

The Winona Forest Recreation Area contains more than 70 miles of multi-use trails in Oswego and Jefferson counties. Mushers, skiers, and outdoor lovers of all ages are invited to explore the Winona Forest Recreation Area on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the third annual Winona Forest Recreation Association (WFRA) Winterfest. The event starts at 9 a.m. at the CCC Camp on Co. Rt. 90 in Lorraine. The recreation area features more than 70 miles of groomed trails in northern Oswego and southern Jefferson counties.
