The Oswego Children’s Theater’s “Babes in Toyland” Opens Friday at St Mary’s

The Oswego Children’s Theaters final production of the year will bring back memories of childhood, as they Present “Babes in Toyland”, with music Victor Herbert and script and book by Glenn MacDonough. “Babes in Toyland” Is perhaps best remembered as the basis for the classic Laurel and Hardy film “March of the Wooden Soldiers” which was a holiday staple for many years.

Christmas Cantata To Be Performed In Red Creek

This cantata tells the Christmas story using the idea of Christ as the Morning Star as a recurring theme throughout. Many familiar carols such as “Joy to the World” as well as lesser known carols are combined to tell the story. The choir will conclude the cantata with “For Unto Us a Child is Born” from Handel’s “Messiah.”

West Baptist Church Holds Advent Concert

The concert will start with a Thanksgiving piece followed by the Advent chorale “Wachet Auf” and then moving to such holiday favorites as “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and “Silent Night.” The concert will feature the brass ensemble separately and together and is an excellent way to spend the first Sunday of Advent.

Internationally Acclaimed Violinist to Perform at SUNY Oswego Dec. 9

World-class Romanian violinist Irina Muresanu will visit SUNY Oswego to perform "Homage to the Violin Sonata" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. The event will wrap the fall schedule of the college's Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series. World-class Romanian violinist Irina Muresanu will continue the SUNY Oswego Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series with “Homage to the Violin Sonata” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom.

The international award-winning violinist will perform sonatas by the likes of Beethoven, Schubert and Prokofiev with pianist Robert Auler of SUNY Oswego’s music department.
