So, I was out walking my little dog, Toto, the other day (Yes, I know, but he came with that name.) and we were walking for a couple of minutes, then running for a couple of minutes and generally having a good time, when some lady came up to me and started to yell at me about being mean to Toto by making him run.
This just in from the ASPCA. The Animal Emergency Planning Act (H.R. 4524), recently introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, will require facilities such as commercial animal-breeders, zoos and laboratories to create plans for protecting animals in their care during disasters. We need representatives to pledge their support by cosponsoring this bill.

A friend of mine just adopted a new puppy, Otto. He is really cute at 10 weeks old, but she is finding that he tries to eat EVERYTHING. That is no exaggeration. She calls me every time it happens, frantic, and I am getting to be a nervous wreck over this puppy and he is not even mine. What can I tell her?
A friend of mine who was in her 70s just passed away unexpectedly and she had two dogs and three cats. Her grown children knew we were friends and they asked me to take in all of her pets. Which I did, I only had one dog of my own, but now my house is pretty crowded as I look for new safe homes for them. In the meantime, I am worried about what my happen to my pets in the same situation. I don’t have any family – not that hers was all that helpful.
Well I just got back from the vet with my two cats, Popeye and Olive. They were in for their annual checkup and guess what? Popeye has put on weight in the past year. He just turned three. He was really skinny when I first adopted him two years ago, but I guess middle age is setting in and while he’s not obese (yet) he has lost his waist.
I just took a new job where I can take my dog, Tootsie, to work with me. I am so excited, but also just a tiny bit nervous. Tootsie is a great dog, about 7 months old and full of energy. Do you think this is a good idea for her? I hate leaving her home alone, but what if she doesn’t do well in an office environment? What advice do you have?
This may not be the most earth shattering problem you have ever heard about, but my dog, Shorty, snores sometimes. “Just shut the door and ignore that horrible sound,” you might suggest, but, OK, I let him sleep in the bed with me. And I don’t want to hurt his feelings. So help me figure something out.
I just adopted a new kitten, Harry. He is coal black, totally handsome, and was the last of his litter to be adopted. I think he must have been getting bored with no litter mates to play with because he seems to think I am his new litter mate, which I guess I am. The only problem is while I love to play with him, he is a little rough – tying to bite me – not in a mean way but it still hurts and he is only eight weeks old. How can I get him to stop?
I just adopted a new cat, Marvella, (no I did not choose that name, but she’s three and she seems to know it) and she seems very loving and friendly except for one thing. She will jump on my lap and act really affectionate and I will pet her and then suddenly she will hiss and try to bite me and jump down like she is really mad at me.
