STOP DWI Program Comes To Birdlebough High School

Juniors and seniors in the Phoenix Central School District received a sobering lesson during a recent mock DWI presentation. Every other year, in the weeks leading up to prom and before summer break, the district teams with the Oswego County STOP DWI program to teach high school students about the dangers of drunken and distracted driving.

Rotary Club Welcomes Richard Sivers

The Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club recently welcomed Richard Sivers, president of the Oswego Players, to discuss his adaptation of “My War With the United States,” a memoir by Ludwig Bemelmans, into a comedic play. Bemelmans, the author of the “Madeline” series of children’s books, was stationed at Fort Ontario in 1917 during World War I.

Maritime Museum Kicks Off 2017 History Lecture Series June 3

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego kicks off its 2017 History Lecture Series on June 3, at 1:30 p.m. Captain Ronald Marquisee, producer/director of the PBS series Cruising America’s Waterways will be screening an episode of that series that follows the Oswego River/Canal from Three Rivers to Oswego. Included is a visit to the museum’s National Historic Landmark World War II Tug, LT-5 and an interview with H. Lee White Maritime Museum founder, Mrs. Rosemary Nesbitt.
