I was in the library the other day and there was another patron there with a dog that was wearing a little vest that said therapy dog on it. I thought it was really cute and said hello to the dog and the woman snapped at me and told me not to talk to her dog. What’s with that?
SUNY Oswego recently awarded advanced degrees or certificates to several area graduate students.
Cazenovia College, named one of “America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report, honored the Class of 2014 on May 17 at the institution’s 189th commencement ceremony.
Minetto Elementary School conducted a “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraiser with students skipping rope for 40 minutes during their physical education class. This year, more than $2,200 was raised. As a result students were able to duct tape teacher Don Fronk to the cafeteria wall.
On July 26 from 8 – 11:30 a.m., The Club House Tavern, 126 W. Second St., will host a breakfast in support of United Way’s Stuff-A-Bus campaign. Sponsored by Eagle Beverage and The Club House Tavern, and coordinated by a committee co-chaired by Dan and Liz Dorsey of Eagle Beverage, the breakfast is open to the public.
Theatre students are needed for ‘Charlie Brown’ at Arty Day Camp July 14-18. Registrations are open for CNY Arts Center’s week-long camp. If enough campers sign up for theatre, an excerpt of Charlie Brown will be prepared for parents at final presentation.
The Fulton Art Association presented two art scholarships at the commencement ceremony on June 28 at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton. The two $100 scholarships were bestowed upon graduating seniors Jack Ryan and Seth Rogers-Miller, who have each displayed special artistic talent. They were chosen by their teachers, Meredith Gill-Williams and Jackie Tyler.
Chairman Jim Rice of the Fulton City Democratic Committee is inviting everyone to a chicken BBQ at the Polish Home on July 13 from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Presale dinners should be picked up by 1:30 p.m. The chicken dinners are being cooked by Fulton’s Fricken Chicken team of Denny Young and John Rebeor.
Hannibal Music Boosters is hosting its second annual golf tournament on July 13 at Griffin’s Greens. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Dinner will follow the tournament at The Village Tavern in Hannibal.
Tyler Hunt of Oswego, a Senior majoring in Sports Medicine, has been named to the Spring 2014 Dean’s List at Merrimack College. To qualify, each student must maintain a 3.25 GPA or greater.
