OSWEGO – On March 27, 2026, at approximately 7:32 PM, personnel from the Oswego Police Department and Oswego Fire Department were dispatched to 96 Hamilton Street, Hamilton Homes, for a reported dumpster fire.
While investigating the initial incident, police and fire personnel were dispatched at approximately 9:56 PM to a second dumpster fire at Hamilton Homes, a large residential apartment complex consisting of 28 buildings spanning several acres. Based on the circumstances, Oswego Police believed the incidents were connected and intentional, prompting an extensive investigation.
At approximately 1:40 AM, While still in the area, an Oswego Police patrol officer detected the odor of smoke and located a building within Hamilton Homes that was on fire. Oswego Police officers immediately began evacuating nearby residents after the fire was found to be in a recycling storage building connected to the apartments. Oswego Fire Department personnel were able to successfully extinguish the fire while officers conducted a search of the surrounding area.
As a result of that search, the suspect, 30-year-old Bradley L. Davis Jr. of Sandy Creek, was located hiding under a porch several blocks away.
Davis was taken into custody, processed on the following charges, and transported to Oswego CAP Court for arraignment:
- Burglary in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony)
- Arson in the 3rd Degree (Class C Felony)
- Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree (Class D Felony)
- Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony)
- Two Counts of Arson in the 5th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Two Counts of Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree (Class E Felony)
- Criminal Tampering in the 3rd Degree (Class B Misdemeanor)

The Oswego Police Department was assisted by the Oswego Fire Department, Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, SUNY Oswego Police, Menter Ambulance Service, and several local fire companies.
