The H. Lee White Marine Museum will present the play “The Great Rope” written by Rosemary Nesbitt and directed by Jonel Langenfeld this summer on August 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Fort Ontario parade grounds. This production is a collaboration between the maritime museum, Fort Ontario State Historic Site and CNY Arts Center.
Area runners and walkers can support Oswego Health’s cancer outreach and educational support services, as they participate in the health system’s annual Charity Walk/Run on May 17. The event is dedicated to those in our community who have been affected by cancer.
Unfortunately, the High Bank Holdup scheduled for today (at Fulton Speedway) has been cancelled due to bad weather. We will see everyone back here next Saturday for our 2014 points opener.
Using Oswego County Tourism as their platform, students devised companies that promoted the county’s strongest resources, with each team creating their own company name and logo. Promotional materials such as a tri-fold brochure and a 30-second commercial were also required.
There were a variety of options for the youth to explore at G. Ray Bodley High School during the school day, including literacy time, a physical education period, science adventures and art activities. In the art classroom, children created work using several mediums such as pastels, clay, beads and crayons.
Local dignitaries, school administrators and community representatives were on hand to commend the students for their dedication and volunteer service as part of the 18th annual President’s Youth Volunteer Service Award dinner.
Each year, Harborfest has an elaborate poster design. Sometimes it goes with a theme or there is a contest with guidelines. In the most recent years, posters have been created by Oswego High School students in a computer graphics class taught by Melissa Martin.
More than 250 people gathered to enjoy a weekend of history talks, exhibits and literature at the fourth annual Oswego War of 1812 Symposium on April 4, 5, and 6. Oswego Mayor Tom Gillen opened the symposium at the Lake Ontario Conference and Event Center on East First Street in Oswego.
CNY Arts Center – Arts in the heART Gallery, 47 S. First St., has another great student showing her art work for the month of April. Cassondra Alexis Orr-Savage is an 18-year-old honor roll student at G Ray Bodley High School.
