The College at Brockport, State University of New York, recently honored students who excelled academically by naming them to the President’s List for the fall 2013 semester.
Danielle Wert, program coordinator of Rural Health Network of Oswego County, gave the Fulton Noon Rotary Club an overview of this system of facilitation for health care. Oswego County ranks lowest in all New York State counties for healthy behaviors of its citizens.
Daniel Spier of Phoenix, a Computer and Information Science major at SUNYIT, was part of a team that competed successfully in a qualifying round of the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, the largest competition of its kind in the U.S.
Travis Kearns of Oswego, whose major is Biological Sciences, has been named to the President’s List at Clemson University for the fall 2013 semester. To be named to the President’s List, a student must achieve a 4.0 (all As) grade-point average.
In an effort to make theater continually affordable to all audiences, CNY Arts Center will offer a Pay-What-You-Can option for Searching for Eden: The Diaries of Adam and Eve at the final dress rehearsal 8 p.m. February 13. The romantic comedy starring Peter and Kelly Mahan officially opens February 14 at CNY Arts Center, 357 State St., Fulton
Fulton Noon Rotarian Terry Bennett invited Erin Tones, the process manager from Sunoco Ethanol Plant in Fulton, to be the guest speaker at the Fulton Rotary Club at a recent meeting. Sunoco purchased the Fulton plant in 2009 and has used the existing tankage from Miller Brewing for its operations.
The following area students were named to the Dean’s List at Paul Smith’s College during the fall 2013 semester. Each earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinction:
Juniors Anita Glenister, Lexi Goodnough, Jay Ivison, Sarah McDougal and Madeline Yousey earned a perfect score on the New York State English Regents Exam that was offered statewide on January 27. For students in the Sandy Creek Central School District this day was actually a snow day.
The Oswego High School will be hosting a hands-on workshop on February 13 to provide high school seniors planning to attend college, and their parents the opportunity to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line.
