Unique to Oswego County, Catholic Charities’ Community Based Mentoring Program seeks to provide youth ages 8 to 17 with a mental diagnosis, access to adult mentors who can truly make a difference in their lives.
Oswego Hospital’s Maternity Center was presented new mom baskets by store managers of The Cellular Connection. Tara Sahlberg, of the Pulaski store, and Corey Bryant of the Central Square store, recently delivered the baskets that included many items that new mothers need.

Tammy Holden, communications specialist with Entergy’s James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant, presented Mary Margaret Pezzella-Pekow, executive director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County and Helen Hoefer, supervisor of Community Services, with a $3,800 grant in support of the Catholic Charities food pantry.

She has been involved in higher education for more than 20 years and was inspired to become an entrepreneur when she taught classes at Cayuga Community College on entrepreneurship.
The Oswego City School District was recently notified that they would be the recipient of the Expanded Half Day Pre-kindergarten Grant. The funds received would allow the district to add an afternoon class at Kingsford Park School as well as expand a current morning class at Leighton to full-day.
Pinewoods Head Start had its annual Make and Take Night at the Fulton Municipal Building recently. They had many crafts to make with the families.
Oswego Health’s Lakeside Heart Center has been accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, signifying the facility offers the highest standards for cardiac rehabilitation. The Lakeside Heart Center, located at 177 W. Fourth St., in Oswego, provides cardiac rehabilitation to community members who have recently experienced a cardiac event.
Fairley Elementary School pre-kindergarten students belted out a handful of songs during a sing-along in the cafeteria on Tuesday. Wearing reindeer and elf hats made of construction paper, nearly two dozen afternoon pre-K students sang traditional songs such as “Jingle Bells.”
Students at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School had the opportunity to shop for family members as they perused a wide selection of gifts that were donated by staff and community members.
