The public is invited to a free Safety Seat Check at Oswego Lowe’s, Route 104 on Saturday. The hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Fun family activities and games sponsored by Lowes and area agencies available all day long.

The 22nd annual CNY Great Pumpkin Festival entertainment lineup features live bands both days. It will be held on Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the heart of Oswego at Washington Square Park.
Come to Oswego’s Historic Maritime District to see antique and modern fire and emergency equipment up close. On September 28 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., dozens of vehicles from across New York State, as well as Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts will be displayed along West First Street, from the Oswego Railroad Museum to the H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center.
Hundreds of families turned out for the Lanigan Elementary School Open House on Tuesday. Building principal Jeff Hendrickson along with classroom teachers and the district’s Director of Literacy and UPK, Carri Waloven, were on hand to talk to parents.
Granby Elementary School wrapped up the second week of the school year with a back to school kick-off celebration. Sponsored by the Granby Parent-Teacher Group, the celebration gathered the school’s entire learning community for a fun and engaging opportunity to celebrate the start of a new school year.
On September 13, the Sandy Creek Comets dedicated not only the stadium press box in honor of long-time teacher and Comet fan, Susan Bitz, the football team dedicated their season to her as well. “Life is good, it’s just not the same without her.”
A Fulton tradition continued on Labor Day when three churches, First United Church of Fulton, State Street United Methodist and Prince of Peace Lutheran gathered at the gazebo in downtown Fulton to celebrate the glory of Labor Day together.
SUNY Oswego’s Ke-Nekt music series will explore musical territory from instrumental to vocal, traditional chamber to jazz to an inventive brand of contemporary for its 2013-14 season. The five-performance season, co-organized by the college’s music department and Artswego, will open at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9, in Sheldon Hall ballroom, with jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein.
The story of Carolee Sadie Ashby, the four-year old Fulton girl who was killed by a hit and run driver on evening of Halloween 1968 will be released on the 45th anniversary of her death.
