On September 14 at 6:30 p.m. there will be the annual cemetery walk with candlelight at Oswego Town Rural Cemetery, Cemetery Road in Fruit Valley. On September 18 at 6:30 p.m., the event will be at SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station, Thompson Road.
East will meet West when Melody of China performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in SUNY Oswego’s Waterman Theatre. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in America, the ensemble was formed by enthusiastic musicians from some of the most prestigious music conservatories in China. Melody of China performs classical, folk and contemporary music, exploring the synergy between ancient traditions and youthful American culture.
The Call-N-Ride Bus gives me independence” was the common message shared with Jill Lyon and Natalyn Giverson, representatives from CENG, at the monthly Oswego County Visually Impaired luncheon held at Springside on August 19. The two representatives of CENG, Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, were invited to the luncheon in appreciation of Call-N-Ride. Call-N-Ride is a low-cost, curb-to-curb bus service that is available in Oswego County for the elderly as well as people with disabilities.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Peggy Donnelly introduced Jiancheng Huang from the Oswego County Health Department. Huang presented recent data about the health status of Oswego County. Out of sixty-two counties in New York State, Oswego County ranks highest as an unhealthy county.
The Scriba Food Pantry has served thousands of meals over the years to many residents in the town of Scriba. In fact, we’ve given out more than 1,000 meals in just the last three months. We have recently lost some much needed funding.
CENG congratulates eight co-operative students at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station in Scriba who were recently announced as National Academy for Nuclear Training (NANT) Scholarship Award recipients for 2013-2014.
Officers and firefighters of the Oswego County Fire Services will hold a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Scriba Fire Station, State Route 104 East.
The memorial will honor the deceased Oswego County firefighters who passed away during the past year from Sept. 15, 2012 to Sept. 15, 2013.
Jim Myers has announced his candidacy for 4th Ward Councilor in the City of Fulton. Myers had been councilor, or alderman as they were called then, from 1988-1993. He was president of the council from 1992-1993.

The H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center is pleased to host a Meet the Puppeteer Workshop on Thursday at the museum located on the West First Street Pier in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District at 7 p.m. Master puppeteer Joe Cashore will discuss and demonstrate to the audience how he designs and manipulates his marionettes to give them human-like movements.
