Workshops will be held on September 5 from 2 – 4 p.m. and September 6 from 10 – noon in the Library Learning Center.
On July 8, Fulton resident John W. McEachen won a silver medal in the ultra sparring division (under 68kg age 41-50) at the 2013 USA-Taekwondo Senior National Championships in Chicago. The event took place over the 4th of July weekend. McEachen is a Border Patrol Agent at the Oswego Station, and has lived in Fulton since 2000.
“Waldo” was spotted at 25 Oswego businesses last month. People were encouraged to locate the 3.5-inches tall character at more than two dozen Port City businesses and get their “Waldo Passport” stamped or signed for the chance to win prizes.
Taxes will be collected beginning September 1, 2013, to October 2, 2013, with no interest and from October 3, 2013, to November 1, 2013, with 2% penalty. The tax roll will be closed on November 1, 2013, and no tax payments received or post-marked after this date will be accepted.
Members of the Planning Committee for the City of Fulton Employees’ fourth annual Golf Tournament presented Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow, executive director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, with a check for $3,000.
“On Wednesday evening, August 28, at 6:30 p.m., we are going to celebrate the end of the summer at the John Ben Snow Community Center and John S. Haldane Memorial Arena where we will walk and clean up the trail and show off what our feet can do,” explained AmeriCorps member Stacey Petersen. ” At this time, we will bring all of the sneaker and sock donations together and be proud of how we gave back to the Pre-K to 12th grade children of the Pulaski community.”
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
At a recent meeting of the Fulton Noon Rotary Club, Rotarian William Lynch, Scholarship committee member, presented two one-year college scholarships to Michelle Gorea and Kate Rothrock. Michelle is going to Binghamton in pre-health and will enroll as a nurse with a goal to be a Nurse Practitioner. Kate is going to Nazareth College in the nursing program.
Sarah R. Argersinger, of West Monroe, is participating in St. Lawrence University’s International Study Program for the fall 2013 semester. Argersinger, a member of the class of 2015 at St. Lawrence, is majoring in English and Francophone studies.
Constellation Energy Nuclear Group is a $2,000 sponsor of the seventh annual Diane Falise Memorial Scrabble Fest. This annual benefit for Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County takes place on Sept. 20 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge.
