Community members can learn more about diabetes, its prevention and ways to manage the disease from two Oswego Health physicians during the health system’s free diabetes day to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 30 at Springside at Seneca Hill.
Participants in CYO Summer Drop-in Recreation Program recently enjoyed a visit from the Fulton City Fire Department. The children learned about the duties and responsibilities of a firefighter and were able to tour one of the department’s fire engines.
Two open house and recruitment events will take place in the Oswego YMCA Armory, corner of West First and Utica streets – noon on Sept. 8, and 7 p.m. on Sept. 13. Kids are encouraged to bring any parents or guardians with questions.
David Brown of Pulaski is among nearly 2,000 new freshmen enrolled at Youngstown State University for the 2013-14 academic year. David is majoring in: STEM First Year Engineering.
The city of Oswego’s Charles E. Gallagher Swimming Pool will close for the season on Sunday, August 25.
Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church is organizing its annual Fall Rummage Sale and Bake Sale. The event will be held September 6 and 7 at the church which is located at 758 State Route 176, just west of Fulton. Hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.
Dan Mahaney has announced his intention to seek another term as Highway Superintendent for the Town of Hannibal. Mahaney’s mission has been to improve upon the safety of the town’s 56 miles of highways, while staying within the limits of a strict budget during tough economic times and obtaining grants to help offset taxpayers’ expense.
Made possible through a partnership with United Way, school districts throughout Oswego County, and more than 20 business and organizations, the Stuff-A-Bus Campaign collected hundreds of school supplies for distribution to less fortunate students throughout Oswego County.
Participants in CYO Summer Recreation Program were introduced to some of the residents of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo when Zoo Educator, Alicia Arcaro brought the Zoo To You program to Fulton. Arcaro provided CYO participants with an informative presentation that gave them a close-up look at some of the zoo’s many animals.
Greg Mills, the new executive director of the Fulton and Oswego YMCAs, presented the future of the organization to Oswego Rotary recently. He highlighted the agreement between the Fulton YMCA, the Oswego YMCA and the YMCA of Greater Syracuse. Shared services and collaboration with additional opportunities for members will be key to the success of both Ys.
