Sandy Creek Central School District students heading back to school in September will see some new faces at the elementary, middle and high school. The district welcomed this summer new teaching staff members John DeGone, Elise Lofaro, and Marissa Paquin.
The Sandy Creek Central School District in cooperation with the United Way and with the support of donations from community members, businesses and the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign helped 89 students in the community get ‘geared up’ for the school year.
The music of one of the area’s most popular big bands will fill the air along West Linear Park as the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce 2013 Summer Concert Series concludes with a live performance by The Do Good Swing Band on Aug. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Veterans’ Stage in downtown Oswego.
Fulton’s downtown Gazebo will once again be the setting for worship on Labor Day Sunday September 1 at 10:30 a.m. Three congregations (Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, State Street United Methodist Church, and First United Church of Fulton) will gather to host the outdoor service which will include communion and a food offering for the Salvation Army Food Pantry.
The City of Fulton Free Summer Concert Series continues this week with the Fulton Community Band playing at the Pavilion at Bullhead Point Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. On Friday, the Detour Band will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Gazebo on South First Street.
The red carpet was literally rolled out for the family and friends of The Manor’s residents and rehabilitation patients during the annual family picnic which had an Oscar Night theme. Family members enjoyed a meal with their loved one and mingling with the staff.
Nurses from the St. Luke Health Services Adult Day Health Care Program will offer free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings to the public during the Oswego Farmers’ Market on Thursday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The screenings will be offered at the St. Luke bus, which will be parked on West Oneida Street near the Civic Plaza, at the market.
Members of the Oswego County Teachers Association were joined by a number of volunteers to help collect school supplies during the countywide collection day held August 14.
Oswego County AmeriCorps member Amanda Barker is hosting a drive at the Selkirk Shores State Park Recreation Center. This drive will benefit the children of all ages who participate in the activities at the center. The goal of the drive is to enhance opportunities for the children campers who really depend on the center.
