Residents of Oswego are partnering with the American Red Cross for a “Communities That Care” blood drive in honor of Sadie Wilson on July 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge, 132 W. Fifth St. A “Communities That Care” blood drive is a Red Cross initiative to engage local citizens and boost regional blood supplies by enlisting community support.
Orthopedic Surgeon Ronald “Damani” Howell, MD has joined the Oswego Health active medical staff. Dr. Howell has just completed a six-year orthopedic surgery residency program at New York University’s Hospital for Joint Diseases.
The Oswego County Legislature proclaimed July 26 as Americans with Disabilities Awareness Day to promote education about advocacy, resources and services available to county residents. The certificate was presented to members of Oswego ARISE.
Legislators were invited to tour the facility and meet the campers recently. They were treated to lunch on the picturesque lakeside campus, followed by a musical performance by the campers and their counselors
The 2013 Eldercare Celebrity Open, held in honor of Pathfinder Bank, was a success, raising critical funds in support of the Eldercare Foundation’s mission of enabling our community’s elders to live at home with dignity and independence.
The following local residents were among 1,371 students from Ithaca College who received degrees during the College’s commencement ceremony held in May 2013.
Singer-Songwriter Christopher Battles will be performing from 5-6 p.m. uly 26, at the rivers’ end bookstore, 19 W. Bridge St., to raise funds for the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County. All donations at this performance will go directly to LCOC.
Patrick Fink and Nikki King, 2013 graduates of G. Ray Bodley High School, were awarded the Fulton Lions Club’s 2013 H. and Mary Dowd Memorial Scholarship and John Scaringi Memorial Scholarship respectively.
The following local residents were named to the Dean’s List at Ithaca College for the spring 2013 semester.
