Oswego County Opportunities’ WIC program recently collaborated with REACH CNY (Resources, Education, Advocacy and Collaboration for Health) and Oswego Health to host a Community Breastfeeding Shower for new mothers and expectant mothers involved with the WIC program.
Continuing its tradition of offering arts demonstrations on Thursdays during the farmers’ market, Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St., will sponsor demos for the remainder of July and the beginning of August. The free demos will take place from 5-7 p.m. in Lakeside Artisans’ shop.
Fulton Rotary Club’s program chairperson, Steve Osborne, introduced Lisa Pachmayer, the Fulton YMCA interim director, to the Fulton Rotarians at a recent meeting. Lisa updated the membership of the Fulton Noon Rotary Club, on the services provided by the Y and also some changes that have been happening.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is accepting applications for mini-grants for 2013. Not-for-profit community organizations can apply for up to $1,000 for activities for youth during hours when school is not in session. Projects must be completed by the end of 2013 and provide a direct service to children and families in Oswego County.
Judy Young, member of the Fulton Rotary Club, introduced new member Mike Szpak at a recent noon Rotary meeting. Mike is the executive director of the ARC of Oswego County and CEO of Oswego Industries.
Vehjric and Vanessa Dupree spent the day with their grandparents Dennis and Jan Morse recently. Grandpa took them all out to breakfast. Vanessa, grandma and friend, Horlly Luser, put up a lemonaide stand. They sold a glass of lemonaide and a cookie for 75 cents.
Take a trip to when life was simple. Come to the North Volney Methodist Church on August 3 to see those wonderful cars we remember from our youth. The car show will be from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the church grounds with free admission.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 3, at the Department of Social Services, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. Oswego County also needs Hispanic foster parents.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Government, Courts and Consumer Affairs Committee recently presented Elaine Kerfien a certificate of appreciation for her service to the county.
The Fulton Community Band will be playing at the Bullhead Point Pavilion on Thursday and national banjo champion Drew Freck will be playing at the Canal Landing Gazebo on South First Street in the Downtown area Friday.
