The Oswego Public Library’s Library Learning Center in partnership with Oswego County BOCES now offers English for Speakers of Other Languages for ages 16 and up.
Ann Backer, of Taste the World Specialty Foods and Coffee, is the driving force behind this new initiative. She brought the concept back from a trade show in New York City and recently introduced it into the Oswego business community.

The Great Lakes Seaway Trail has been named a RoadRUNNER Magazine Bucket List Road for great motorcycle rides. The motorcycle touring and travel magazine cites the expansive views of lakes Erie and Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, the 1000 Islands, Niagara Falls, historic sites and birdwatching among the virtues of riding the 518-mile Great Lakes Seaway Trail National Scenic Byway on two motorized wheels.

Emily Heagerty of Oswego has enrolled in Coastal Carolina University for the Fall 2013 semester. Emily joins nearly 2,200 other new students in the Class of 2017 (#CCU17).
Staff and friends of the Oswego County Department of Social Services gathered to show their support for one of Oswego County’s most vital agencies, United Way, as they participated in the third Annual DSS Hospitality Gathering and United Way Bowling Fundraiser. Held recently at Lakeview Lanes, the DSS employee bowl-a-thon raised more than $750 in support of United Way.

DeLisle, Mark Pollock, son of Mark and MaryBeth Pollock and Matt Nelson, son of Tammy and Doug Feeney and Kirk and Ginger Nelson have been named 2013 Brine National High School All-Americans and have been selected to represent the Syracuse region at the 2013 Brine National Lacrosse Classic.
Resource Development Director for the United Way of Greater Oswego County, Lois Luber has announced that a number of area businesses have signed on as sponsors for the United Way’s 18th Annual Golf Classic. Scheduled for July 15 this year’s United Way Golf Classic will be held at the Oswego Country Club.
