The Sandy Creek Varsity Girls’ Softball team may have lost their bid to be State Champions, but that did not dim their accomplishments in the eyes of their school, their coaches, their families and their community. In a district Board of Education recognition ceremony, they were honored for their accomplishments including the Section III Championship title.

SUNY Oswego and Onondaga Community College to host visiting Fulbright scholar

Dr. Paula Banerjee, an associate professor of South and Southeast Asian studies at the University of Calcutta, was awarded the Fulbright grant by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board to spend the coming fall semester at Oswego and the spring 2014 semester at Onondaga in Syracuse.

Mark and Lynne Kimpland have served the First United Methodist Church and the Fulton community for the last 18 years. “Our time in Fulton has been a wonderful blessing full of opportunities, challenges and above all, it’s unlimited potential,” Pastor Mark said. “We will forever treasure the relationships, ministries and Fulton’s unique sense of community.” Rev. Kimpland has been reappointed to the Endwell United Methodist Church in Endwell, NY and will begin his ministry July 1.

OCO’s Handville Recognized As One of Oswego County’s Top 40 Young Professionals

Handville, who joined OCO in 2001 as a part-time medical secretary at the agency’s Oswego Health Center also worked in OCO’s Family Planning program and in 2007 became a health educator where she taught reproductive health in area schools. In 2009, Handville was named coordinator of the Cancer Services Program and has been the driving force behind the program ever since.

Wreath laying at Oswego County 147th’s monument Set In Gettysburg

On July 1, the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, Oswego Town Historian George R. DeMass will officiate at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Oswego County 147th monument in Gettysburg. The 147th New York volunteers, Oswego County’s own, was heavily engaged in the three-day battle.
