The Fulton Board of Education held its annual reorganizational meeting and appointed its officers for the 2015-2016 school year. The board named David Cordone as president and returned Dan Pawlewicz as vice president and Barbara Hubbard as clerk. Cordone was later acknowledged in the regular meeting of the board of education for recognition of the amount of board development activities he has participated in over the years.

The Fulton Water Department Flushing Program will begin August 3. Flushing will begin in the morning and continue until sunset. This program should be completed no later than August 19.

Nestles Building #30, located on Fay Street, and the adjoining parking lot, located on South Fourth Street were sold to Gary E. Springs of Spring Storage Park at the July 7 Common Council meeting. The council unanimously approved the sale. Springs intends to use the building and parking lot for warehousing and his U-Haul business.

Due to spawning season, state law requires no dredging be completed until the season is over. With the end of spawning season July 17, Mayor Ronald Woodward announced at a recent council meeting they hope to start dredging as soon as possible.

Local writer and artist Lisa R. Davis recently released her newest book, Fairies in Summer. This book is the third in a series, following Fairies in my Flowerbeds and Fairies in Spring Flowers. Each is an illustrated, rhyming poetry book of fairies made visible by wearing clothes made from flowers.

The group, organized by Jim Farfaglia, Alex Grimshaw and a number of other volunteer supporters, was formed to bring awareness to the good things happening in the Fulton community. The meeting included multiple community guest speakers presenting on a variety of subjects relevant to the Fulton community.

Fulton resident John McEachen competed at the World Police and Fire Games, which were held in Fairfax, Va., from June 29 to July 5. McEachen is a Border Patrol Agent at the Oswego Station.

Starting this week, smokers will be asked to refrain from using Tobacco products at the Fulton Farmers’ Market. The Tobacco Free Network of CNY, with the support of the city of Fulton, the Oswego County Health Department and the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, announced the market will be a tobacco-free event starting July 11. According to a resolution passed by the Fulton Common Council this week, “from this date forward:” no tobacco products are to be used within the farmers’ market barriers.
