Investigator Batstone Retires From Fulton PD

On December 30, Investigator Michael Batstone retired after 20 years of service with the city of Fulton Police Department. Batstone began his career in April 1994. During his career, he had several special assignments including a post with the Oswego County Drug Task Force beginning in 2001. In 2005, Batstone was promoted to the rank of Investigator where he worked on many of the city’s major high-profile cases.

Reclassed Incidents Leave Fulton School ‘Potentially Dangerous’

School violence that went unreported or misclassified at Fulton Junior High School as revealed by a New York State Comptroller’s audit has classed the district’s only middle school as a potentially persistently dangerous school.

“The risk that schools with unsafe learning environments will not be identified as such raises concerns that school problems will continue unaddressed, parents will not be notified of school choice option, and the learning environment will suffer,” the comptroller’s report Compliance With the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education Act stated.

Firefighters Battle Blaze At Volney Ethanol Plant

Fire crews remain on the scene of a fire earlier tonight (Jan. 8) at the Sunoco ethanol plant in Volney. The fire was reportedly in an empty warehouse, that is going to be demolished, at the site. Nearly a dozen crews were dispatched to the to the scene at the former Miller plant on Route 57. The blaze was brought under control around 8 p.m.
