As the summer ice cream season cools down, the competition between Fulton’s local brick-and-mortar businesses and the Bull Head Point seasonal food truck vendors appears to be heating up.
Village of Phoenix Administrator James Lynch invited the community to attend Phoenix’s Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony this evening.
“On behalf of Honorable Mayor Anthony Fratto and the village trustees, I would like to say that we are proud to be one of the few communities who continue to recognize the victims of 9/11 and the sacrifice the first responders made that day,” Lynch said.
Fulton City School District’s commitment to parent engagement is launching a series of events called the Family Academy. The Family Academy is collaboration between the Fulton City School District and community-based partners to acknowledge and support family involvement in student achievement.
The Fulton Public Library 2014 Memoir Project, a writing program designed to preserve personal memories of Fulton’s history, will take place Sept. 25 at the new Cayuga Community College event center in the former K-Mart Plaza at 6:30 p.m. and the community is invited to attend the free event.
The two year legal land battle between the city of Fulton and the town of Granby was put to rest last week when the Fulton Common Council took the last step and voted to approve the new city map, which now includes the Wastewater Treatment Plant on city-owned property. “This is the last leg of the annexation,” Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward said during the council meeting Sept. 2.
In support of Fulton’s school children, the community and the efforts of the school district to continue to improve the high school graduation rate, the mayor and Common Council joined with the Fulton City School District to acknowledge how crucial attendance is to the learning process.
Except for a quick break Tuesday (Sept. 2) to meet the state senator, the Groh Dredging & Marine team has been hard at work pulling sediment from the bottom of Lake Neatahwanta since dredging began July 25 and grid one is expected to be finished any day. Several scientific surveys conducted in the past two decades indicate that dredging is the next step to helping the little lake by the big lake recover from its current unhealthy state.
The Lake Neatahwanta dredging project received the attention of state government Tuesday (Sep. 2) when New York State Senator Patty Ritchie stopped by to visit and accept the warm appreciation of the community for finding the money to get the lake cleanup underway.
Groh Dredging and Marine’s dredger moored just off the Lake Neatahwanta shoreline of Stevenson Beach on Tuesday as the company readied its equipment to begin pumping.
As the seasonal clock ticks off the last days of summer, Phoenix’s Henley Park heated up one more time Monday evening with the village’s 2014 Music in the Park Concert Series, this week featuring the acoustic rock group Hendry.
