Fulton Family YMCA is pleased to host the life-saving services of Life Line Screening, in order to help local residents identify their risk of stroke, vascular disease and osteoporosis before the catastrophic effects of these conditions can occur. The May 2 event is open to local residents.

Oswego County resident Douglas Parkhurst age 62 has been identified as the operator of a 1962 tan Buick Special that struck 4 year old Carolee Ashby Halloween night 1968. Ashby was struck as she crossed, what is now known as State Route 481 at Division Street in the City of Fulton, with her sister and cousin. Due to the expiration of the Statute of Limitations no charges will be filed in this matter. The following is an overview of events surrounding the accident.

After months of pizza sales and fundraising, members of the Cayuga Community College Fulton Campus Veterans Club donated $1,000 to the Gregory J. Harris Military Courtesy Room at Syracuse’s Hancock Airport. The room offers any active-duty military personnel a quiet, comfortable space to wait for their flights.

A four-year-old Fulton girl was struck and killed by an unknown motorist on Halloween night, 1968. Fulton police were unable to make an arrest in the case. It remains an open investigation. On Wednesday, they will issue a statement that will “detail the events of this case, past and present.”

Oswego County residents will be able to safely dispose of unwanted chemicals, pesticides, and other hazardous waste products beginning May 1, at the Oswego County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility.
