Hurricane Irene brought a lot of wind but not all that much rain over the weekend. Things look nice for the next several days.
The central area encompassed nearly 18,000 acres in the towns of New Haven, Volney, Hastings, Palermo and Mexico. Aerial spraying began on Tuesday, August 23 with the southern portion of the area and worked in a northerly direction, covering about two-thirds of the area. The remainder was finished tonight before spraying moved to the Dugway area, which included portions of the towns of Albion and Parish.

UPDATE: Police report that Leduc has been found and is okay.

A Republican county commissioner in Florida says he’s quitting his seat and moving back to the county where he grew up so he can run for Congress.
Jeff Stabins, according to the St. Petersburg Times, said he has bought his dream house in Sackets Harbor and is moving there to run for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic incumbent Bill Owens.
