Oswego County’s emergency managers are keeping an eye on Hurricane Irene’s path, but so far, see no reason to join the state in its round-the-clock emergency response to the cyclone.
“We’re monitoring the events,” said Terry Bennett, emergency services program coordinator for the county.

The City of Fulton Department of Public Works has announced a street restriction for traffic in the City of Fulton for 8/25 and 8/26.

UPDATE: The street is now open Please be advised that Curtis Street (St Rt 176) in the City of Fulton, will be closed to through traffic from West Fourth Street South to Powers Drive. Police say the closure is expected to last until around 1 p.m.
A new leader has been appointed to head Fulton’s Lanigan Elementary School and he has just days to get up to speed before the building fills with students and staff.
Fulton’s Board of Education Tuesday appointed Robert Briggs to be Lanigan’s Principal.
The area encompasses nearly 18,000 acres in the towns of New Haven, Volney, Hastings, Palermo and Mexico. Aerial spraying began with the southern portion of the area and worked in a northerly direction, covering about two-thirds of the area.
