One of Central New York’s most famous Native American athletes urged Fulton’s Board of Education to talk to Onondaga Nation members before approving a new athletics logo meant to honor them.
Moments later, the board approved the logo.

If Doug Hoffman ever had a 30 point lead in his primary against Matt Doheny, as he claimed, he lost all of it and more by Tuesday.
The two Republicans are separated by about 600 votes with 98% of the vote tallied in the 23rd Congressional District primary.
A day after Doug Hoffman came to Fulton, fellow Republican Congressional hopeful Matt Doheny did the same. The Alexandria Bay investment banker disputed Hoffman’s claims of a 30 point lead, based on an internal poll, and on calls he says his campaign is making to Republican voters.

Fulton’s boys varsity team picked up its first win of the season Saturday, pounding Mexico, 4-0 at Mexico’s Junior High fields. Zach Howell scored twice, including on a nifty header that you’ll see in the photo gallery inside.
Doug Hoffman rolled up to the former Joice and Burch store on Route 48 in a big RV festooned with his campaign signs.
A small but enthusiastic crowd was waiting for him.
“The enthusiasm for Doug Hoffman is there, and it’s grassroots, too,” said Oswego County Conservative Party chair Leonard Schick.
There’ll soon be a family living in the home at 421 Rochester St., and the city of Fulton will bank a small profit from the sale. It is the latest home to receive the city’s novel treatment of rundown structures that fall to the city when owners stop paying taxes.
The budget cuts enacted earlier this year in Hannibal became real Wednesday when school opened for another year. The changes forced on the district caused complaints when people saw what those cuts meant.
The problem areas included a French class taught via distance learning and the half-day closing of the libraries in the Kenney Middle School and Fairley Elementary School.
The campaign for Congress heads into the final days of the opening round with incumbent Democrat Bill Owens sitting on the largest pile of money.
Campaign filings made public this week show Owens with nearly $1.2 million on hand. Owens has spent $1.6 million on his reelection so far.
