Do This Tonight: Boston Brass in Fulton

Members of a brass ensemble from G. Ray Bodley High School  practice before a giving a brief performance to the Fulton Board of  Education on Tuesday.  The group was on hand to promote Thursday's  concert by the school's concert band and wind ensemble, which will  feature a performance by the Boston Brass.  The nationally-known brass  quintet is in Oswego County this week giving concerts and working with  school musicians.  The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

Heather Crofoot, who works with the Head Start preschool program at Oswego County Opportunities, said, “What I read is we’re going to cut front line staff. We’re going to cut programs that meet the needs of the students. Why is it front line (positions being eliminated) and why is it starting at the bottom?”

Warm Spring May Slow The Drip Of Syrup From Trees, But Boost Visitors To Maple Syrup Farms

The first ten photos show the process of pulling sap from a tree  and making it into syrup. First, a tree is tapped.The weather may be lousy for maple syrup production this year, but the tradeoff could be more New Yorkers celebrating the 15th annual Maple Weekend.

Tim Fowler, who runs Maple Hollow Farm in Hannibal with his wife Becky, says without three feet of snow on the ground and ice on the roads, more people could be going out to visit maple syrup farm open houses throughout the state.
