Today’s Data: School District Poverty Rates

I’m starting a new occasional feature — highlighting data that shines a light on our county and our communities.  Our governments produce floods of data.  We hope to spoon out a few ounces as it flows by and show you something you might not have known.

Feel free to discuss what you see in the comments.

Before you click to see the table, play a little guessing game:  The districts are APW, Central Square, Fulton, Hannibal, Mexico, Oswego, Phoenix, Pulaski and Sandy Creek.  Try to rank them in order, from highest poverty to lowest. Then take a look at the numbers.

Fulton Schools Closing In On New Mascot And Logo

They used to be the “Red Raiders” and their mascot was a proud Native American in an Iroquois headband.

Now, the district’s only logo is the red “F” you see at left. And they’re just the “Raiders” these days. (Or, at least, that’s what they’re supposed to be called.)

But soon, the district may have a new mascot and logo, thanks to a school marketing class project.

Fulton Residents Be Warned: Parking Ban Begins Nov. 1

It’s that time of year again.  Fulton imposes its annual all night ban on street parking starting November 1.

They want the streets clear for snow plowing from Nov. 1 to April 1.

Leave your car on the street by mistake (which I do at least once a year) and your contribution to the city’s revenues will be $15.  More if they have you towed.

RaiderNet Daily: Homecoming, And Two Big Wins

They’ve got spirit, yes they do.  The most spirited Raiders of Spirit Week were honored at Thursday’s pep rally and a King and Queen were crowned.  Then, the Raider football team went out and crowned J-D. Also, Fulton’s varsity soccer team beats a Fowler team they’d lost to earlier in the year.
