Scene Around Town: Jreck Subs Hasn’t Closed, It Just Moved

It’s been there forever, or so it seems. Jreck Subs has held down the corner of S. 1st St. and Route 3 for decades, not that long after the old Victory Grill closed.

Now it’s gone. The sudden departure appears to have some folks wondering where Jreck went. They’ve even taken their question to the arbiter of all things retail, Post-Standard retail columnist Bob Neidt, who didn’t know either.

Here’s your answer: Jreck moved this week in the long-closed Cam’s NY Pizzeria building next to City Hall and Advance Auto Parts. The new owners tell our Fred Reed (who supplied the cell camera photo below) that they’ll be reopening “in a week or so”. Here’s their new home:

The State Canal Corporation is advising boaters with tall boats that they may not get past the locks in Phoenix for a while.

A Small Move Brings Big Business Changes To Fulton’s Uniforms, Etc.

Uniforms, Etc. of Fulton outgrew its home on S. 1st St.  This Spring, the business moved about 300 feet away, to the corner of Cayuga St. and S. 2nd St.  Now, you know S. 2nd St. better as Route 481, the main route through the city.  The difference in visibility made a massive difference to Uniforms Etc.’s bottom line — an immediate jump in business.  “People were reminded that we existed because of the move,” the company’s marketing manager says. More Charges Filed Against Driver In Alleged High Speed Chase

New charges have been filed against the Rochester woman who led police on a three-county high speed chase last Thursday.
