NEB Makes First Sale; ‘Sustainability’ Next Step

After two years of construction, Northeast Biofuels sold its first shipment of ethanol Friday. Fastrac Markets purchased the ethanol for blending as “E-10,” which will be sold at Fastrac locations throughout Central New York. The next step for NEB is to focus on sustainability, according to plant manager Brian Roach.

State Education Department: Graduation Rates Show Improvement

UPDATED: The New York State Education Department reports that statewide four-year graduation rates are up from where they were two years ago. In Fulton, four-year graduation rates were below the statewide average for the group of students who graduated in 2007. Five of nine school districts in Oswego County saw graduation rates above the state average.

‘No Guarantees’ For Fate of Church, Member Says

With the first serious buyer on the line, Jan Mileskey said he is hopeful that business plans for the former First Congregational United Church of Christ property will more forward. Even if the sale to Family Video Store falls through, Mileskey stressed that there are no guarantees that the church will be maintained as part of the Fulton community once the property is turned over to the state UCC conference.
