Local Law Enforcement Carries ‘Flame of Hope’ For Special Olympics

Members of several local law enforcement agencies carried the “Flame of Hope” for a run from the Oswego Police Department to the Oswego Police Department today (May 29) in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New York. Oswego’s Law Enforcement Torch Run is part of the state-wide event that takes place every year from May through June.

Mayor Barlow Announces Results Of Code Enforcement Blitz

The blitz resulted in 125 non-complaint properties being brought into compliance immediately during the 10-day span, most of which involved used furniture and excessive garbage being placed in public space. Three properties did not come into compliance and were ticketed by the Oswego Police Department.

Oswego County Drug Task Force Announces Cocaine Possession Arrests

On Tuesday May 21, at approximately 9:30 a.m. investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Oswego City Police Department, Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, Fulton City Police Department, US Border Patrol, US Homeland Security Investigations and US Internal Revenue Services, executed the first of multiple narcotics related search warrants in Oswego County.

Budgets Approved, BOE, Library Candidates Elected

On Tuesday (May 21), voters approved the Oswego City School District’s budget for 2019-20 school year by an unofficial vote of 957 yes to 454 no. They also elected a newcomer, Heather DelConte and former board president, Lynda Sereno. The top vote-getter, with an unofficial tally of 1,145, was DelConte. Sereno earned the second open seat with an unofficial tally of 1,071.
