Mayor Billy Barlow announced today (February 12) a $25,000 grant for Pizza Villa, a long-standing 53-year-old business in the Port City. Pizza Villa is moving from its current location to 145 W. Bridge St., the current Stone’s Candy Shop building.

It was standing-room-only in the Council Chambers Monday night as dozens of union members turned out to rebut comments made by local developer Anthony Pauldine. The Oswego businessman spoke at a recent public session to express umbrage over being picketed late last year at the grand opening of the renovated Cahill Building.

It has been nearly a year since the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, that claimed the lives of 17 students and staff members and injured another 17. In the wake of that tragedy, along with other mass shootings that have dominated the headlines in recent years, the Oswego County Legislature created a special committee to address public safety issues in schools and communities.

State Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash that occurred today (February 8) at the intersection of State Route 3 and State Route 104 in the town of Hannibal. The driver was ticketed. One person was hospitalized.

A graduate of the Hannibal Central School District who is now in his second semester at Cayuga Community College has received a scholarship from the New York State Sheriffs’ Association.

Events that take place between May 1 and Oct. 31 will be posted on the county tourism website and listed in the calendar brochure, which is widely distributed at travel and vacation shows, chambers of commerce, NYS Thruway information centers, businesses and other outlets.
