Two pieces of Oswego’s history were donated to link the city’s catalog of historic documents. Cousins Ron and Mark Tesoriero worked together to preserve the Port City’s history. The city has dozens of books that document laws, events and pivotal moments dating back 170 years.
But, its collection wasn’t complete

The hike will focus on the 75-acre Fort Ontario Military Reservation National Register District as it looked during the Great War. Nov. 11, 2018 marked the 100-year anniversary of the signing of the Armistice which brought World War I to a close.

A crowd of more than 165 gathered in Oswego Veterans’ Memorial park to observe the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. And, they honored the memory of the many Oswego County veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Nine months from today, people will start to move into Champlain Commons, Diane Cooper-Currier, executive director, Oswego County Opportunities, said October 17. “OCO is thrilled to be a partner with Rochester’s Cornerstone Group and our state funding partners to bring new, safe, affordable and quality housing to Oswego County,” she said.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation recently announced that Oswego County was selected to continue the application process for the foundation’s “Culture of Health” award. Oswego County is one of 39 communities, among 186 applicants across the nation, to continue to the next phase of the application process.

Representatives of the Oswego Fire and Police departments, the Coast Guard and other first responders gathered for a solemn memorial at the Fire Department’s headquarters.

Harborfest turned 31 in July. The festival was greeted by some clouds, humidity and some sprinkles. The hundreds of people, young and old, crowded into Breitbeck Park, didn’t seem to mind.

The Port City’s annual Bemelmans Festival wrapped up in June at the Fort Ontario Complex. Moments after the Port City’s newest park was opened, it was filled with scores of canines running happily inside the two enclosures.
