Oswego firefighters made quick work of a fire in a single-family home on Lyon Street, on the city’s east side, just after 11 p.m. on Sunday. Two adults and three children were able to escape the flames thanks to working smoke detectors. No injuries were reported.

Oswego Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire in a multi-family residence at 111 W Utica St. at approximately 12:42 a.m. today (September 12). Thanks to the quick response of Oswego Firefighters, the fire was contained to the kitchen in one apartment in a few minutes of arrival.

Representatives of the Oswego Fire and Police departments, the Coast Guard and other first responders gathers Tuesday for a solemn memorial at the Fire Department’s headquarters. On display near the podium was a chunk of a steel beam from the World Trade Center – a grim reminder of the Port City’s connection to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack.
