The Oswego Board of Education held its annual re-organizational meeting on Tuesday. The vote to name a new president ended in a tie due to the absence of board member James Bell. Instead of holding a re-vote, the board decided to postpone the vote until next week’s regular meeting. The vote for a new vice president was also postponed for a week.

Mayor Barlow Announces Independence Day Parade Award Winners

Mayor Billy Barlow announced the winners of the float contests following the city of Oswego’s Fourth of July Independence Day Parade. Oswego County Launches Major Renewable Energy Project

The project, which originally began in 2014, is part of the NY-SUN program administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. The 2 MW system, which covers about 10 acres next to the Bristol Hill Landfill site on NY Route 3, came at no cost to the county and is predicted to save nearly $5 million over the next 20 years.

Section Of East Albany Street Dedicated in Honor of Caruso Brothers

With the sound of heavy metal thunder revving up in the background, Romey Caruso unveiled a road sign memorializing father and uncles, Harry, George and Bill Caruso. The trio, founders of the iconic Oswego Speedway, was honored Saturday afternoon across the street from the iconic Oswego Speedway. The stretch of East Albany Street will now be known as Caruso Brothers Boulevard in their honor.
