We make our living with words. But, at times like these, our tool box doesn’t contain any instruments that adequately convey the myriad emotions we’re dealing with. Our thoughts and prayers are with you? That phrase is quickly becoming an almost meaningless cliché, a knee-jerk response to the increasing number of gun violence incidents today such as Thursday’s murder of five newspaper staff members.

The Fourth of July Independence Day Parade begins at 1 p.m. on July 1, starting at Oswego High School along Liberty Street, heading east on State Route 104/Bridge Street and turning north on East Seventh Street, ending at Fort Ontario.

The statewide tourism trail earned two recognitions for excellence in marketing and public relations – one first-place PRism Award and one Award of Excellence. The PRism was awarded for the Trail’s “Spooky” Social Media. In 2017, they hired Break the Ice Media, to create and execute a strategy around Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Channels, with a goal to increase reach, tap into new audiences and increase overnight visitation.

“It has come to my attention that there have been some rumors floating around about there being only one venue at Harborfest. That is, of course, not true,” Amber Canbek, PR/Media Marketing Coordinator, said. ” There are three venues this year, instead of the five we’ve had in previous years.” Bands that were in River Walk have been rescheduled at different parks with different times.
