Early-Morning Gang Assault Leads To Arrests
Two people were arrested early this morning following an assault that left the victim severely injured, including a facial fracture. The investigation is on-going.

Committee Approves Mayor’s City-County Partnership Plan
Mayor Billy Barlow officially requested authorization to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the city of Oswego and county of Oswego. The agreement will create a partnership between the city of Oswego Department of Code Enforcement and Oswego County Department of Social Services. The council will vote on it June 9; the county on June 12.

Mayor Barlow Announces City Pool Opening on July 6
Mayor Billy Barlow today (July 5) announced the Charles E. Gallagher City Public Pool will open on July 6. The opening of the public swimming pool was pushed back this year due to additional maintenance being performed around the pool area, he explained.

The arrest stems from the investigation into an incident that occurred in the town of Hastings between January 2017 and July 2018. He allegedly engaged in numerous acts of oral sexual conduct with the victim being less than 13 years of age.

Logging Accident Claims Life Of Albion Man
On Tuesday (July 3), deputies responded to 785 Towne Road in the town of Albion for a missing person complaint. While at that location, LLoyd W. White, who resides at that address, was found deceased as a result of an apparent logging accident, deputies reported.

Oswego School Board Gets Reorganized – Kind Of
The Oswego Board of Education held its annual re-organizational meeting on Tuesday. The vote to name a new president ended in a tie due to the absence of board member James Bell. Instead of holding a re-vote, the board decided to postpone the vote until next week’s regular meeting. The vote for a new vice president was also postponed for a week.

Border Patrol Agent Arrested for Distribution of Child Pornography
Keith E. Hook, 54, of Oswego, appeared in federal court Monday (July 2) on a charge that he distributed child pornography over the internet, announced United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and Kevin M. Kelly, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations.

Mayor Barlow Announces Independence Day Parade Award Winners
Mayor Billy Barlow announced the winners of the float contests following the city of Oswego’s Fourth of July Independence Day Parade. The parade participants and floats were judged as they passed East Park (Washington Square) by Oswego City Clerk Mark Tesoriero, Council Vice President Kevin Hill and Executive Director of the Oswego Chamber of Commerce Katie Toomey.

Oswego County Launches Major Renewable Energy Project
The project, which originally began in 2014, is part of the NY-SUN program administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. The 2 MW system, which covers about 10 acres next to the Bristol Hill Landfill site on NY Route 3, came at no cost to the county and is predicted to save nearly $5 million over the next 20 years.
